Shouting "Rouhani, we love you," hundreds of Iranians greet their president, Hassan Rouhani, just hours after the leader's historic phone call with U.S. President Barack Obama.
Rouhani arrived in Tehran after his trip to the United Nations where his team made diplomatic progress with Western rivals on issues such as the nuclear program.
Despite the friendly tones, Rouhani's phone call is sparking intense debate and fierce opposition from some.
As protesters chant anti-American slogans, one university student says they will continue to defy the U.S.
(SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) UNIVERSITY STUDENT, MR. KARIMPOUR, SAYING:
"We all know that the U.S. will never care about us, and as our leader said, we have persisted all these years against global arrogance, so we have to keep on persisting and we will never accept any abuse by from arrogant nation."
Some Iranian media also reported protesters throwing eggs and shoes at the president's car.
