Time for Google to begin rolling out it's driverless car? The driver of car taking video for the Street View feature of Google's mapping service may soon be unemployed after an accident, followed by an attempted escape leading to a 3 k.m. chase and another three-car accident.

The beGoogled car collided with a minibus in the Bogor district on the outskirts of Jakarta. Its driver, an Indonesian man, then agreed to accompany the minibus driver to a repair garage to sort matters out.

However, fearing steep repair cost for the damaged vehicles, the man ran back to his car and drove off, Bogor district police operations chief Hendra Gunawan told AFP.

The minibus driver gave chase and tailed the car for three kilometers before it slammed into another minibus, and finally a parked truck before the driver finally gave up.

The driver, who police have not named, was detained and questioned.

"He has been released and all the payments for the vehicles have been sorted out. The damage to the first one would probably have cost 200,000 rupiah ($17.50) to repair," Gunawan said, according to news agency AFP.

"We take incidents like this very seriously. We're working closely with local authorities to address the situation," Vishnu Mahmud, head of communications for Google in Indonesia, told AFP.
