Kenyan president says militants "defeated"

"I had vowed earlier, we have ashamed and defeated our attackers"

Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta says that the al Shabaab militants that went on a brutal rampage at a Nairobi mall have been defeated.

But its unclear whether the four-day security operation at the upmarket Westgate center is completely over. There are still questions about whether any militants are still at large or hostages unaccounted for.

Some of the victims are recounting their ordeal including a Kenyan couple who were helping to run a cooking competition.
