Bodies discovered in Oklahoma lake could be key to decades-old mysteries
  • 11 years ago
Behind the mud and rust, investigators in Oklahoma believe they have cracked open two cold cases, a half century old.

Inside these cars, authorities found 5 bodies. Dive crews testing new sonar equipment in a lake discovered the remains by accident. Authorities believe the bodies have been under water since the 1960s and 70s.

SOUNDBITE: Sheriff Bruce Peoples of Custer County saying:

"It's gonna bring closure to the families when we can notify everyone who is involved in this."

The sheriff believes the bodies in one car belong to three teens who went missing in 1970.

Authorities believe the two bodies in the other car belong to a couple who disappeared in the 1960s while heading to the lake.

The State Medical Examiner will use DNA from surviving family members in an attempt to identify the bodies.
