UK PM David Cameron stresses need for Syria political solution
  • 11 years ago
UK Prime Minister David Cameron, having failed to get his parliament's support for engaging in military action against the Syrian government, has now returned to stressing that there must be a political solution to the crisis in that country.

Speaking during Prime Minister's Questions at the House of Commons, Cameron said that "we won't get a peace process in Syria unless President [Bashar] al-Assad realises that actually his regime is under some sort of pressure [from both the armed rebels and citizens]".
He said that the world needed Assad to believe that dialogue was in his own interest, otherwise no peace could be achieved.
