Local residents in Baghdad on Saturday began clearing the scene of an attack that killed at least 25 people and wounded more than 50, according to police and medical sources, when a suicide bomber targeted a busy cafe on Friday.

It was one of the worst attacks in Iraq since suicide bombers hit the same district two months ago, killing 29 worshippers during noon prayers at a Shi'ite mosque.

Friday's bombing took place in al-Qahira, a northern district of the capital that is home to mainly Shi'ite Muslims.

Children were reportedly among the casualties at the site, in an area with cafes and restaurants popular with families.
