The legends of Magdalen

This documentary explores the submarine treasures and mysteries of the « Iles-de-le-Madeleine », a unique archipelago in the gulf of Saint Laurent, nestled between five Canadian provinces. These isles, once a trap of sand for long-dead navigators, are surrounded by over 350 wrecks. These islands represent the second largest marine cemetery in North America.
In the 18th century the isles were colonized by the Europeans in search of new territories and by the survivors of the numerous shipwrecks. One of their descendants, Leonard Clarck, has passionately studied and mapped these submarine wrecks. Today, his work is celebrated by the research of his friend, the diver and filmmaker Mario Cyr.
In 2013, the inhabitants of these isles, divers and archeologists are still discovering the ruins of a glorious and stunning past. On the screen, these ruins are turned into living legends of these islands.
