Prayers in Egypt as the country's interim rulers issue a faster than expected timetable for elections.

But of the Grand Mufti of the Muslim Brotherhood says no deal.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD GRAND MUFTI ABDULRUHMAN ALBIR SAYING:

"We do not recognize this military coup or what ever came after it. Therefore, there is no need to speak about any decrees because they were issued by people without authority."

The stakes in Egypt were raised dramatically by the bloodshed Monday, the worst since Mursi was toppled by the military. The army opened fire outside Cairo's Republican Guard barracks where the deposed leader is believed to be held.

Officials, who released video Monday, said troops fired in response to an attack by armed assailants.

The protesters also issued video, disputing that account, insisting they were conducting peaceful dawn prayers.
