STORY: A large swath of Chile's Pacific coast remained on alert Thursday as massive swells continued to pound the coastline due to high winds and strong tidal currents.
High winds and tidal movements have combined to create swells with waves as big as 22 feet or seven meters in some parts of the South American country's coastline.
Meanwhile in the Peruvian coastal city of Llo waves as big as 16 feet or five meters struck the coast.
Local weather services have issued a warning saying the large swells could last through Sunday.
