Henry VI Part 2
Act I Scene iii
Queen Margaret
After years of war with France, King Henry VI sends the Earl of Suffolk to broker a peace. Suffolk arranges a marriage between Henry and the French princess Margaret Anjou. Upon meeting her husband, Queen Margaret is disappointed to find him a weak and ineffectual ruler, completely under the control of the protector Gloucester. In this speech, directed to Suffolk, Margaret expresses her anger and incredulity at the King's lack of power within his own court.
