Elizabeth Taylor wedding gown sells for more than $187K (USD) at auction

Elizabeth Taylor may have worn her first wedding dress in 1950, but it is still as valuable as ever.

The dress fetched more than $187 thousand (USD) at a Christie's auction in London.

Taylor wore the Helen Rose designed dress when she married hotel heir Conrad Hilton Jr.

While she walked down the aisle a total of eight times, this dress, is considered to be the most conventional design she ever chose to marry in.

The Hollywood star later donated the dress to an auction, where it was snapped up by its most recent owner.

It was reportedly used in 1974 by the buyer's granddaughter at her wedding.

And while Taylor's first marriage lasted only nine months, the gown proved a lucky omen for its second wearer, who is said to still be happily married today.

The dress was sold as part of a larger auction that includes items from "120 years of pop culture."
