Coal miners’ death triggers panic in Assam-Meghalaya

Hundreds of panic stricken migrant labourers have started fleeing Garo Hills region in western Meghalaya after eight coal miners were killed by unidentified gunmen on Sunday. About 5,000 migrant workers, mainly from Assam, have left the area, fearing fresh attacks on non-indigenous workers.
