North Korean U.N. envoy urges end to economic sanctions

A warning and a proposal from North Korea.

On Friday North Korea's envoy to the UN Sin Son-Ho warned that ongoing tensions between Washington and Pyongyang could lead to war at any time.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SIN SON-HO, AMBASSADOR FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA, SAYING:

"The most pressing issue in North East Asia today is the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. which can lead to another war at any moment."

He also reiterated Pyongyang's call for senior-level talks with the U.S. aimed at replacing the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War with a peace treaty.

"If the U.S. continues to go defiant over our proposal the situation will continue to intensified and the removal of war danger will be impossible. In other words every issue could be possible to be settled once and for all if the United States has a true and genuine
