Greeks strike over ERT closure

Greeks show their solidarity with shuttered public broadcaster ERT.

On Wednesday, thousands braved wet weather to attend a concert at the organization's headquarters in Athens.

They are protesting the government's sudden decision to close ERT a day before, effectively putting 2,600 employees out of work.

The move has sparked outrage among journalists, unions and politicians.

Officials claimed ERT was rife with waste, unnecessary spending and corruption, allegations that are fuelling further anger.
