A wildfire tears through the U.S. state of California on Saturday.

The blaze, now several days old, has has so far torched 80 square kilometres and forced the evacuation of 1,000 buildings.

Fed by strong winds and soaring temperatures, it has shown little sign of letting up.

Crews are trying to stop the blaze from reaching a nearby town and power lines.

But on Saturday they battled exhaustion and dehydration as well as the flames.

The fire is about 50km north of Los Angeles and officials are not sure when it will brought under control.
