From Aliceville, Alabama to Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Luxembourg, this military history story follows German prisoners, American doctors, camp discipline, wartime newspapers, and the argument over whether a soldier should be allowed to talk back. The video traces how 425,000 German prisoners were held across the United States, put to work in mess halls and hospitals, and exposed to an Army where enlisted men could challenge officers, cartoonists could mock generals, and complaints could travel through official channels. It also follows the darker side of captivity: German-run camp courts, the murder of Johannes Kun in Oklahoma, the trial that followed, and the later execution of Eddie Slovik for desertion. At the center is a simple but powerful question: why did German POWs trust American doctors, laws, and procedures more than their own medics and command culture? The answer unfolds through Casarene, Patton, Stars and Stripes, Yank, and the idea that an army is not only a machine for force, but a machine for finding out when it is wrong.Created for listeners who enjoy WW2 stories, military history, prisoner of war history, and narrated documentary-style history videos. If you search for German POWs, American Army history, WW2 camps, or forgotten World War 2 stories, this episode fits perfectly for background listening, history study, and calm long-form narration.","author_name":"WW2 Dossier","author_url":"https:\/\/www.dailymotion.com\/WW2Dossier","width":480,"height":269,"html":"
