00:00Just when public interest on the flood control scam had begun to wane, the Senate announced the resumption of its probe on the scandal beginning next Monday.
00:10It adds a prelude to the kickoff of the probe next week.
00:13Fireworks have sparked an unpleasantries exchange between the blue-ribbon chair and presidential sister, as our Luisa Erispe dwells on the details.
00:21While many already want to forget the bitter memories of 2025, the Senate does not want to simply shrug off its earlier promise to investigate anomalous flood control projects.
00:35As a matter of fact, according to Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Sen. Pan Filo Lakson, on Monday, January 19, the committee's investigation will resume.
00:45Former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, former Yusek Trajiv Olaivar, Maynard Ngu, and former Representative Zadiko will be subpoenaed to attend the hearing.
00:55If they still fail to appear like before, there may be arrest warrants.
01:00There is also the possibility that Representative Leandro Leviste may be invited due to the similarities between the alleged Cabral files reportedly in the possession of the lawmaker and the list that Sen. Lakson holds.
01:13Although the alleged Cabral files cannot be used yet to file cases, shall need authentication from the DPWH, it is possible that this will also be discussed during the hearing.
01:24Reports are now circulating that Henry Alcantara has recanted his statement that he received kickbacks from lawmakers involved in the flood control scandal.
01:34According to Lakson, there may be a penalty of 6 to 12 years in prison.
01:39And if Alcantara and others turn the tide, the investigation will not stop.
01:45Lakson insisted that Monday's hearing is open to all senators and no one is being limited in as far as what they want to ask the resource persons, contrary to the alleged accusation of Sen. Aimee Marquez.
01:58Meanwhile, the exchange of words between Sen. Marquez and Sen. President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lakson is heating up.
02:05This is after Lakson revealed that Sen. Aimee has 2.5 billion pesos allocables in the 2025 National Expenditure Program, according to the Cabral files.
02:16Lakson even said that perhaps Sen. Aimee Marquez wants to apply as the meow-meow of the Senate.
02:23Sen. Aimee Marquez responded nothing was released from her allocables, which were placed under for a later release category in the budget.
02:32The same goes for her colleagues in the minority.
02:34Lakson hit back, saying Sen. Aimee should have remained silent.
02:39And Sen. responded again, saying Lakson should look in a compact mirror first before giving an advice.
02:46Luisa Erispe from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
