00:00Hi everybody, it's season 9.
00:09We've been interviewing designers all over the country and now our favorites are coming
00:12to New York for season 9 of Project Runway.
00:14Are we really back here again?
00:18Ooh, yes we are.
00:26The competition starts now.
00:28This is Project Runway.
00:35Wow, it's pink.
00:37Freaking awesome.
00:38It's pink.
00:39It's very, very pink.
00:41I started making Barbie clothes when I was 8.
00:44My design aesthetic can be summed up in three words.
00:47Artsy, girly and edgy.
00:49Wow.
00:50Flame.
00:51Swanky-licious.
00:52The edgy comes and goes, but the blue hair helps.
00:55Oh my God.
00:56The Empire State Building is right out my window.
01:02Yes, this is a little off the beaten path for a Mormon.
01:05I've never been to New York before.
01:06I'm in a strange place.
01:07I don't know these people and I will no longer be the same.
01:11It's a little off the back one day.
01:12Right?
01:13Yeah.
01:14Yes.
01:15Be my roomie.
01:16Everyone keeps calling me as Barbie and I get it.
01:19You know, I kind of have that sort of look.
01:22That's not really me.
01:24The first initial thing people want to say when they see me is,
01:27Oh, she looks sweet.
01:28But I've got quite a bite.
01:30I'll cook breakfast.
01:31No, I'm a morning person.
01:34You're not Bert.
01:35I'm Bert.
01:36You don't have to snore, do you?
01:37I don't think so, no.
01:38I'm tough.
01:39But you'll find out real fast.
01:42I feel like we're in summer camp.
01:48No, what if you have to pack it up right away?
01:50Don't think that way.
01:51Okay, I won't.
01:52I'm not packing it up.
01:53Goodnight.
02:12Surprise!
02:13What the hell?
02:14I need you all to wake up right now.
02:15Oh, my God.
02:16Rise and shine, everyone.
02:17Yeah.
02:18Rally.
02:19What the hell?
02:20What are you doing here?
02:21We're having a project runway.
02:22Come as you are party, everyone.
02:23Oh, my God.
02:24I want you to grab one sheet from your bed and meet me downstairs.
02:26Can I at least put a bra on?
02:27Come as you are.
02:28Say, hold on.
02:29Typically, I sleep start naked, so let's thank the heavens that I didn't do that.
02:41Laura, come as you are.
02:43No makeup.
02:44We're living in Starbucks.
02:45They're not open yet.
02:47Oh, my God.
02:48Oh, my God.
02:49Oh, my God.
02:50What are you doing here?
02:51We're having a project runway come as you are party, everyone.
02:54Oh, my God.
02:55I want you to grab one sheet from your bed and meet me downstairs.
02:58It's just shocking.
02:59I'm out in New York with a headscarf on.
03:01Not good.
03:03And here we are.
03:04It's very odd.
03:05Five o'clock in the morning, and you're passing Bryant Park.
03:08We're good.
03:09We're not sheet, girl.
03:10We passed Red Lofso.
03:12I'm like, yeah, we're going to Red Lofso, get some cheddar biscuits.
03:15Oh, my God.
03:16Walking through Times Square in my PJs.
03:18Check.
03:20I'm on in.
03:21We get to Parsons, and I think, oh, we're really here.
03:27Come on in.
03:28Find your space.
03:29Oh, my God.
03:30We are in the workroom.
03:32It's like you can feel the energy of, like, so many people that's been there before you.
03:37So you're almost like a continuation of a legacy.
03:40Hey, designers.
03:41I want to welcome you to the workroom at Parsons, the new school for design.
03:45Next door, we have our brother sewing room, which is fully outfitted with brother sewing machines.
03:50You each have an HP tablet, and the HP and Intel technology is a vital and critical resource for your creativity.
03:59So use it.
04:00Now, you may be wondering why I brought you here in your pajamas at the crack of dawn.
04:07Yes.
04:08What you were wearing and the one sheet that you brought are the materials for this challenge.
04:15All right?
04:16Holy .
04:17Like, what am I going to do?
04:20I barely have anything to work with.
04:22Plus, this is, like, old and pilling.
04:24I mean, this is what it's all about, making something from nothing.
04:29What you see on your table are what you can wear because you're going to have to take the clothes you're wearing off.
04:35In the designer's lounge, we have closures for you.
04:39We have dyes and dyeing bins so you can manipulate these things.
04:44Now, it's your first challenge.
04:46This is your opportunity to really wow them.
04:49You have until 10 o'clock tonight.
04:52You will sketch and then just dive into your challenge.
04:56Thank you, Tim.
04:58Okay.
04:59Make it work.
05:01You want to get noticed right away, so I'm going for it.
05:04That's why I came here.
05:05I'm not coming in tiptoeing.
05:07I'm coming in stomping.
05:08I like these things.
05:09I'm sketching those really fast.
05:12What I'm wearing is obviously not that classy, but I do have a lot to work with.
05:17I'm doing three pieces.
05:18A top, a jacket, and shorts.
05:19I love, I love.
05:20It'll be good.
05:21As soon as I found out about the challenge, I knew right away that I wanted to use the
05:26puking clown.
05:27I have to.
05:28That's, like, totally my personality.
05:33I think I'm in phenomenal shape.
05:34Who else is wearing satin pajamas with lace?
05:36Like, good thing that I'm glam and that I like to wear this kind of stuff to bed.
05:40Laura has an amazing negligee, but I don't know if she's going to have the skills to work with the silks and the laces.
05:49I'm going to make this cute little one-shoulder dress using the boxer shorts as the bodice.
05:53The judges said my clothes were a little too subdued, a little too quiet, but that's why I wanted to do Project Runway to get me a little bit more experimental.
06:02Oh, my God, it's threading takes forever.
06:19Four months of sewing is four months of sewing.
06:22So, obviously, if I'd done it before, it wouldn't take so long for me to figure it out.
06:26But I'm literally teaching myself as I'm going along.
06:30It's showing that I don't have the experience that everyone else has, for sure.
06:47The challenge is we must use our bed sheet and incorporate the pajamas that we're wearing into the look.
06:54Those pants are so funny. That's so not her personality.
06:57Yeah, those pants. I don't know what she's going to do with them.
06:59They have bows and candy or something.
07:01Maybe she likes that.
07:03My vision is kind of sporty but sophisticated.
07:07So, in my head, it makes sense. Is it going to work? I don't know.
07:12I wonder if there's going to be a twist.
07:14You need to make an accessory out of your underwear.
07:16Ew.
07:17I have a clutch idea.
07:20Bert's using his underwear.
07:22Uh-huh.
07:23You are?
07:24Your model's going to have nut juice.
07:26You said what?
07:28Ew.
07:29Ew.
07:30Who even said that? That's terrible.
07:32It's natural, people.
07:33But we don't want that visual right now.
07:35No.
07:36I'm doing a pair of pants because I've never really made a pair of pants.
07:42I don't really know what I'm doing.
07:45But I'm just using common sense because I don't really know what else to do.
07:51How is everybody?
07:52Sam!
07:53Hey!
07:54I feel like I'm in a medical center with all these scrubs.
07:57So, Anthony Ryan.
07:58Yes.
07:59Talk to me.
08:00So, I started out with a tank top and these shorts.
08:04I think my biggest competition is Anthony.
08:06He has a lot of good ideas.
08:08He's very organic.
08:10What I was thinking with the feathers is to cluster them here.
08:14I mean, I don't want to sexualize everything.
08:17Right.
08:18But look at the placement of those.
08:20Yeah.
08:22There's a way of using the feathers that wouldn't be this pubic patch.
08:25Got it.
08:26All right, Anthony.
08:27All righty.
08:28Thank you very much.
08:29Thank you, Mr. Gunn.
08:30You have to call me Tim, please.
08:31I really feel like an old fart.
08:33How's Feline?
08:34These are my yoga pants.
08:35Okay.
08:36And this was the t-shirt.
08:37This was the logo that was on the t-shirt.
08:39I just wanted to...
08:40What is this logo?
08:41It's the clown puking rainbows.
08:43Is that a toilet?
08:44It's some interesting looking things in this room.
08:49But, you know, some people can't help what they sleep in.
08:51I think that once I finish it, it could look really good.
08:54All right, Feline.
08:55Awesome.
08:56Carry on.
08:57How are you, Josh?
08:58Tim, I'm so good.
08:59I did like a square little v-neck and then I did just a white short.
09:03How many seam allowance do you have?
09:05Half an inch.
09:06You haven't met this model yet.
09:07Right.
09:08I hope half an inch is enough.
09:09And then my last piece is like a little jacket with a hood from the sweats.
09:13Don't lose your way here because I think this could be an absolute knockout.
09:17I'll be making sure that it really is a knockout.
09:21Julie, I'm eager to hear what you're doing.
09:23There's a product.
09:24There's pants.
09:25They're just big pants.
09:26Almost like snowboard-y-esque.
09:28Okay.
09:29Julie is really kooky and fun.
09:31I think she could do some pretty cool stuff.
09:34And then the top, I'm gonna make strips of this and then top stitch it.
09:37Do you have time?
09:38Yes.
09:39You say it with complete confidence.
09:41So I believe you.
09:42Absolutely.
09:43Okay.
09:44How's Bert?
09:45This is my shorts.
09:46This is a t-shirt I had on.
09:48And then this is the sheet, which I've tied.
09:50Who is this person?
09:51Just a beautiful young girl going out for maybe a summer party somewhere.
09:54You just have to get that in mind when you're styling it.
09:56Okay.
09:57How are you?
09:58I'm not bad.
09:59What does that mean?
10:00Are you good?
10:01I liked it, but I don't do it here.
10:03No.
10:04Damn.
10:05You can't lower the skirt.
10:07She's gonna look like a 50-cent hooker.
10:10I know.
10:11So talk to me.
10:12Tell me what you're doing.
10:13Well, silk is a little bit challenging.
10:15Well, you didn't know when you went to bed last night that this is going to happen.
10:17I'm grateful that that's what I wore.
10:19What I see sewn so far looks very good.
10:24I haven't dyed before when I did it.
10:26I've never draped something like this before when I did it.
10:28You haven't made pants before either.
10:29It's the first one like this.
10:31You took on a very ambitious project.
10:34I love Anya.
10:35I think she's really gonna pull out some stops that we're all gonna go,
10:38what just happened?
10:41Hello, Raphael.
10:42Hey, Tim. How are you?
10:44Good.
10:45I can envision what this is going to be.
10:46Talk to me about this top.
10:47I'm kind of waiting to determine just exactly which direction to go with it.
10:51Why are you waiting?
10:52Because I really want to see how it looks on the model.
10:55I'm concerned that these decisions aren't made.
10:57I understand.
10:58I can see it all.
11:00It's just I have to finalize it.
11:01Let me raise another flag.
11:03The judges are going to say to you,
11:05the most interesting textile that you have is the one on your head.
11:09Right, right, right.
11:10It's something that I'm very mindful of and that I have considered
11:12and how to incorporate into the outfit.
11:14Well, why don't you take it off right now and drape it?
11:16I couldn't take it off because my hair looked a hot mess.
11:19I didn't want to look homeless.
11:21They're going to say to you, you didn't maximize your resources.
11:24Yeah, I totally understand what you're saying.
11:27Can I share something else with you?
11:28Yeah.
11:29Your name was in and out of that out pile.
11:33I don't want the judges to say on the runway tomorrow,
11:36we should have.
11:38All right, I can see you gulping.
11:39I want you to gulp.
11:40I am gulping.
11:41OMG, like really right now?
11:44I felt like you needed a dose of Tim Gunn medicine.
11:48Very strong and I love it.
11:49You can do this.
11:50I can.
11:51But you've got to make decisions now.
11:54Yeah.
11:57Coming up on Project Runway.
11:59It didn't really occur to me that I would be that far behind
12:03until I was that far behind.
12:05There's a couple of people freaking out, but that's all you can do at this point.
12:14Designers, the transformation that you've brought to these materials is remarkable.
12:18I will also say though, some of you have a lot of work to do.
12:22Your models will be coming in for a fitting very soon.
12:25And we randomly selected models for you for this first challenge, all right?
12:29Bye everybody.
12:31I think after that conversation with Tim, I really made up my mind that I wanted to fight for myself as a designer.
12:41Whoa, models.
12:42Hi.
12:43Hi.
12:44Oh my gosh.
12:45What's your zodiac sign?
12:46Gemini.
12:47Okay, you're cool.
12:48That's a lot of personality.
12:50This beautiful girl came over.
12:52She's awesome.
12:53I'm very, very happy.
12:54Let's hope that these fit.
12:57Okay, maybe they're a little bit tight.
12:59Where are you from?
13:00Italian.
13:01Ah, for Italian.
13:02Ah, for Italian.
13:03Ah, for Italian.
13:04Ah, for Italian.
13:05Are you Italian?
13:06No, I live in Milan.
13:07Are you speaking foreign?
13:08Speaking foreign.
13:15Ashley looked great in my clothes.
13:17The clothes weren't a perfect fit, but really it was not more than maybe an extra 30 minutes of work to get it to where it needed to be.
13:23That will have to work.
13:24It didn't really occur to me that I would be that far behind until I was that far behind, because this is something I've never done before.
13:33So let's go.
13:34Get some sleep.
13:35Hot moment.
13:36Hot moment is a hot potty.
13:37I knew.
13:38Are you ready for today?
13:39I don't think anybody in this room is going to go home anyway.
13:40Are we ready to rock and roll?
13:41First to run, Manny.
13:42Okay.
13:43Game day.
13:44Yeah!
13:45Good morning, Manny.
13:46Good morning.
13:47Good.
13:48Good.
13:49Really?
13:50I am about to send in your models.
13:54All right.
13:55Good morning, designers.
13:56How are you?
13:59Good morning.
14:01Good morning.
14:07Good morning, designers. How is everyone?
14:09Good.
14:11Really?
14:13I'm about to send in your models.
14:15You will have two hours to send them to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room
14:19and the Garnier hair studio.
14:21And your accessory resource is the Piper Lime wall.
14:25It's very, very, very important.
14:27All right. Bye, everybody. I'll see you later.
14:29Make it work.
14:31Hello, ladies.
14:33Hey, we did it. Your butt looks good.
14:35So pretty with the lace.
14:39I have to figure out how it is
14:41I'm gonna incorporate my head scarf into the garment.
14:43There's a couple of people freaking out silently at this point,
14:49but just push forward.
14:51That's all you can do at this point.
14:53So you're adding them as tears to the back?
14:56No, it's gonna be like a necklace.
14:58Oh, it's gonna be an accessory then.
15:00Yeah.
15:01Gorgeous.
15:04Hi.
15:05Hey, great look.
15:07Smoky eyes, mainly black, not too big.
15:08Just to really bring out the blue in her eyes.
15:10She has such pretty eyes.
15:12I really want a contoured, tailored face.
15:15Just a really clean, kind of edgy look.
15:19A little too hard.
15:20It's beautiful.
15:21It's a little bit of a pop.
15:22Okay. No, it won't pop.
15:23Maybe a little bit more mascara.
15:24Let's lash out.
15:25A scarlet lip, but I don't want too much color on her eyes at all.
15:29Because I just want the lip to show.
15:30Maybe, I don't know if you wanted, I mean, I'm not that with the hair, but not that I've
15:36had that much experience, but sort of big, loose, wavy hair.
15:41Very Bridget Bardot-ish.
15:42Yes.
15:43Deep part, and as flicked as to her head as you can, like really, really, really tight.
15:48It's a little bit Judy Jetson, so it's a little sweet.
15:50No bangs.
15:51No bangs.
15:52Put the bangs back in.
15:53Tighter on the sides?
15:54Tighter, but not too tight.
15:55I want it to be more like pulled back.
15:56Oh.
15:57Pull over, pull.
15:58Now it's getting you.
16:07This is it.
16:08It's the moment of truth.
16:09We are going down to the runway right now.
16:11Let's go.
16:13Good work.
16:14I think we're going to have some interesting looks walking down the runway.
16:18We're all going to be a bit surprised.
16:20Raphael, this is it.
16:22Anya?
16:23Okay.
16:24That's everybody.
16:25All right, we did it.
16:27Coming up on Project Runway.
16:29I think she looks awful in that outfit.
16:32I hate your styling.
16:34It looks really dated.
16:43Welcome to the runway.
16:44As you know in fashion one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
16:55There's 16 of you here, and after tonight there will be 15.
17:00Three of you will be showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and one of you will be the winner of Project Runway.
17:09The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line.
17:14A fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel to enable their creativity and run their business.
17:23And the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection on PiperLime.com.
17:28The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
17:39For your very first challenge we ask you to create a look out of your pajamas and one sheet from your bed.
17:46The winner of this challenge will receive immunity and cannot be eliminated in the next challenge.
17:51All right, let's meet the judges.
17:53First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Michael Kors.
17:58Hey, guys.
18:00Fashion director for Marie Claire magazine, Nina Garcia.
18:03Hi, everyone.
18:04And actress, Christina Ricci, soon to be seen in ABC's Pan Am.
18:12We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
18:15One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
18:20All right, let's start the show.
18:23As I'm watching my model, I'm in this dream state because I can't believe that I'm, or I can believe that I'm sitting in these chairs because I've worked hard to get here.
18:42Seeing my look on the runway, I am proud of what I did.
18:57I hope that the judges can see I fully lined a jacket and chain weighted it.
19:02I don't think anybody else made three separate pieces.
19:07I think she looks amazing.
19:17This is a great look to show first.
19:19This is a lot of what I do, and, you know, it's possible I could have a chance of getting in the top.
19:24I want to steal her.
19:27We'll see about that, Lauren.
19:29As I see my model walking on the runway, I'm thinking it looks really elegant, it looks really good, and I could tell the judges are looking at it.
19:47Okay, sell it, sell it.
19:57Not bad, it's well constructed, it's cute, except the color's a little bit too pastel.
20:03It's the only thing I'm thinking.
20:17I'm so excited.
20:18She looks amazing.
20:20I can't believe I pulled it off.
20:24I'm very pleased with the way mine turned out.
20:26She looks fabulous.
20:37The look overall, I think, says something about me.
20:41I'm really happy I went in the direction that I did.
20:44Those pants are amazing.
20:47First time sewing silk, too.
20:58I am pretty confident that look was not going to fly.
21:03I'm feeling kind of mortified, but what can you do about it?
21:08I'm satisfied with what I have given the limited time and resource we had.
21:25Overall, I was extremely happy and my model was amazing.
21:31I know the top looks great, but I just hope the judges don't see the fit issues on the pants.
21:46I wasn't happy, I just wasn't happy.
21:48I am just praying to God that her butt doesn't come out of it.
22:03Naturally, it's going to start to ride up, but I'm just thinking no ass cheek, no ass cheek, no ass cheek.
22:09I feel confident within my look, but yet, and still, I know that everything isn't where it should be.
22:24I'm really most proud of the detailing that I did in the back of the vest.
22:28You're used to it.
22:30Yeah.
22:31I'm feeling so happy when my clothes come down the runway.
22:43I'm totally back in the puking clown.
22:45That's my sense of humor all the way.
22:48I don't have any regrets.
22:51I'm very excited about the way my garment turned out.
23:03It's almost like something that I would design for a client, but it's different.
23:08It's made me reach that little bit of edge that I've been looking forward to on Project Runway.
23:12I actually looked great in my clothes.
23:27I truly believe that what I've put together is exactly what I envisioned.
23:32I am really pleased with what I have.
23:34I love you.
23:42I think my model looks chic and expensive.
23:48I am a little concerned about the skirt because the skirt is going up a little bit.
23:52But I was satisfied with the whole look.
23:55My gosh, I could actually win this.
24:03If I call your name, please step forward.
24:07Anthony, Ryan, please step forward.
24:10Rafael, Josh, Ania, Bert, Julie, please step forward.
24:23If I have not called your name, congratulations.
24:26Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
24:29You can leave the runway.
24:31That was so nerve wrecking.
24:44Oh my goodness.
24:45Like, I am not in the right spot, like, what the hell?
24:48You're in, you're safe.
24:49That's like not good enough.
24:54The remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores.
24:57Let's bring out your models
25:08One of you will be named the winner
25:09And one of you will be out
25:13Anthony Ryan, tell us about your look
25:21I started off with a bad pair of, you know, high 80s shorts
25:25And just an ill-fitting tank
25:27Being colorblind, I was like, I'm going to work with black, white, gray
25:30This was originally the yellow
25:32So I took some trimmings that they provided for us
25:35And just recovered it
25:37Just to give it that jet black feel that I wanted
25:39And then I made a short skirt
25:41First of all, it's very interesting to see what you guys wear to bed
25:45Because we never get to see that
25:48I like how you changed your pajamas into this a lot
25:55You know, it's unrecognizable
25:56If you told someone that you were colorblind, you know, and they didn't know
26:01They'd be like, what?
26:03I think these colors look very cool together
26:06Thank you
26:07I like the fact that you used the trimmings
26:10But it didn't go overboard
26:12And you used them in a way to fix problems
26:15Right
26:16The skirt is a little bit short
26:18But I think the proportions work on her
26:20And that's something I always look for
26:21Being somebody who is very short
26:24Thank you
26:24Raphael, tell us about your look
26:28My look was pretty much
26:30Well, clearly I used my pajamas to make my look
26:32But with the jogging pants, I did the pleating in the front
26:35I did this layering right here on the side
26:37If you turn it off for me
26:38And in the back, it kind of has these tears panels that go in the back
26:42And then in the front, the neck piece is my headscarf
26:45I had time constraints on that part
26:47And that's the headscarf that I use
26:48I see a lot of problems with this outfit
26:53What grown-up wants to walk around with a bib?
26:56I think she looks awful in that outfit
26:58She's wearing like a Flintstone disco pouch
27:02And then it's like a sweatshirt, legging, jean combo
27:06That is just unflattering
27:08I think you had fit problems
27:10It looks tight on her
27:12And it looks really dated
27:14It's mainly the pants
27:18Are off-putting
27:20But the shirt is really interesting
27:23And shows a lot of craftsmanship
27:25And looks like a lot of time went into it
27:28Yeah, thank you Christina
27:29Julie, tell us about your look
27:32Well, I had for
27:34That you have the photo of
27:36My pajama pants
27:37Which was this
27:38I kind of was referencing an oversized pants
27:41Snow pants
27:42Just something fun and easy to wear
27:44I had really high expectations
27:46When your rec came into
27:50You know, to the casting that day
27:52I loved all the things that you had there
27:55I'm very surprised today
27:57The whole thing is just
27:59Bad
28:02Yeah, I'm a little confused
28:05The shirt is charming
28:08But I wouldn't want to wear it
28:12My only defense is
28:13I was in a sewing learning curve, I guess
28:17What's on the side of those pants
28:19Oh, it's just elastic
28:21Holding them on
28:22That's my biggest problem
28:23To be honest with you
28:24Is the poor construction of those pants
28:27Because they look weird
28:29It's an odd angle for a pocket
28:31Might be a very I like myself kind of pocket
28:34It's like, hi!
28:37I mean, you know
28:38It's a little
28:39It's tough
28:40Thank you
28:41Anya?
28:43Well, you can see that I was wearing a sort of kimono-esque nightdress
28:49And that was what made the top
28:51And then the pants are from my bedsheet
28:54I really wanted to prove that I could construct something
28:57Especially since I've actually never sewn silk before
29:00I think for you to choose to make a pair of pants
29:03Which is not easy
29:05That they look this good
29:07Is extraordinary
29:10The top looks really great
29:12But the back of it is what I like the most
29:16It's a nice touch
29:17I'm happy to see that you can sew
29:20Because I was really rooting for you
29:23I wish I had that top
29:25Those are great pants
29:26I love the whole thing
29:27Really great job
29:28I mean, also the butt
29:30Let's just focus on the butt
29:31Yeah, that's a really good butt on a pants
29:32Turn around for a second again
29:33Just stay right there
29:34Yeah, great
29:35I mean, the butt fits pretty nicely
29:37Great
29:37Right?
29:38Great
29:38Very well done
29:40Thank you
29:40Bert, tell us about your look
29:44I had on my little orange check boxer shorts
29:47And a taupe t-shirt
29:49I do remember, though, in my last interview
29:52That the comment was my clothes were a little simple
29:54So I wanted to try and get some tension going
29:57With the pullings and the things
29:58And I love the different tonals here
30:01That's following the asymmetric line
30:03I am in love with this outfit
30:06Thank you
30:06It's sexy
30:07It's elegant
30:08It's casual, too
30:09It's modern
30:10I love that, you know, the neckline
30:12It looks so simple
30:14But it has a lot of interesting design to it
30:17I think you have adorable boxers
30:19It's an adorable dress
30:22It's feminine
30:24It's sexy
30:26Terrific
30:27I love the proportions of it
30:30I love that it cinches in at the waist
30:33Can I see the back of it?
30:35Sure
30:35Yeah, I just think that's so pretty
30:38Yeah
30:39It's really, really beautiful
30:40Good job
30:41Thank you
30:41I like all the tones
30:44The taupe mixed
30:45I like the asymmetry
30:46I hate your styling
30:48You need to bring her into modern times
30:50I second-guessed that, yeah
30:51You know
30:51I mean, I want to, like, scrub her lips
30:54Pull her hair into a ponytail
30:55Because the design is fabulous
30:58Thank you
30:59Josh
31:01I had a t-shirt and sweats
31:03This little jacket hoodie
31:05I quilted some of the panels
31:07And then on the t-shirt
31:09You know, manipulated the fabric a little bit
31:12I was definitely looking for a summery, fun
31:15Maybe a little more athletically inspired look
31:17Are you happy with the way that it fits your model?
31:21I think there were some issues
31:22There's some fit issues
31:24Maybe in the front of the short
31:25I actually had to, you know
31:27Take out a little bit in the shirt as well
31:29But, I mean, those are things that
31:32You learn for next time, I guess
31:34I don't know
31:35Which one is worse
31:36Raphael's
31:38Or yours
31:39This top, it's terrible
31:43What is this thing down the front
31:47That is, like
31:48Is that the piece that you had to put in
31:49Because it didn't fit?
31:51I mean, the front right around here
31:53Is the most important thing
31:54Of the garment, no?
31:55Right
31:55It's so terrifying
31:58Because I feel like
31:59I wish somebody else had told me
32:00Throughout this
32:01That doesn't look good
32:02It is not up to any of the other designers
32:05To tell you that you're going the wrong way
32:08You're totally right
32:09I agree
32:09What this is all about is your gut
32:11Sure
32:12You are in a competition
32:15Of design
32:17And you are going to show me
32:19A pair of white shorts
32:21And a tank top
32:22I need to see something
32:26Creative
32:27Exciting
32:28Imaginative
32:30I get it
32:31I mean, there definitely has to be
32:33Something more
32:33Than what I'm doing
32:35Thank you
32:36Okay
32:40We're going to have a little chat
32:41And then I'm going to bring you back out
32:44You can leave the runway
32:45Oh God, how was it?
32:59It was intense
33:00It was very hot
33:01What's going on?
33:03It was a disaster
33:04They hated it
33:05They hated it?
33:06They hated it
33:07Yeah
33:08Like the word hate
33:09Like, yeah
33:10They were like
33:11I don't know whose words
33:12Raphael or yours
33:13I've essentially just taken
33:15The beating of a lifetime
33:16It is
33:18Like having someone
33:20Look into your soul
33:21And tell you everything bad
33:22You've ever done
33:22It is
33:23Terrifying
33:25Based on the fact
33:27Of what they had to work with
33:28I think
33:29Our designers
33:30Came up with a great fashion show today
33:32It's not easy
33:33To take
33:34A poly
33:35Cotton blend sheet
33:37Which doesn't sew that easily
33:39Doesn't take to dye that well
33:40And come up with something
33:42Creative and polished
33:43But I also have to say
33:44There were some really ugly things
33:46On that runway as well
33:47Joshua, for example
33:49That was really bad
33:52That was hideous
33:52I mean, I don't know much
33:54About how you fix this
33:55You could have put
33:57A side panel
33:58Like a tuxedo stripe
33:59Up the side of the shorts
34:00You could have hidden
34:01In the back of the t-shirt
34:03A seam
34:03Wouldn't it look so garishly
34:06Off
34:07It was a problem
34:09But I don't know
34:12Which one was worse
34:13Because Raphael's
34:14Is just as bad
34:15But the shirt
34:16Kind of saves it
34:16A little bit
34:17Do you think, no?
34:19I don't think
34:20Raphael
34:21Understands
34:23That there is a problem
34:24I don't either
34:25I think
34:26He thinks
34:27This tight stuff
34:28Is good
34:30Excuse me
34:31It looks like
34:31She went out to eat
34:32She ate too much
34:33And had to unsnap her shirt
34:35Not very fashion-forward
34:36Fashion-backward
34:37Fashion-backward
34:39Julie
34:42Close third
34:44Also pretty bad
34:46No, but you look
34:48At what Julie
34:48Had to work with
34:49You know
34:50And she's wearing
34:50This juvenile
34:51Pajama pants
34:53Right
34:53Who would want to wear
34:54That print?
34:55But you could take
34:56That print
34:56And you could make
34:57It something wearable
34:58By making it darker
34:59And then match it
35:00With a color
35:01That goes with
35:02Something that's
35:03More sophisticated
35:03I wasn't so offended
35:06By the print
35:07It was the pant
35:08That went to south
35:09And it was the construction
35:11Of the pant, actually
35:12Let's talk about
35:16The designers
35:17That we do like
35:18We liked Anya
35:19She knew we doubted her
35:21Yes
35:21So she really was smart
35:24And thought about it
35:25And she said
35:25You know what?
35:26I'm going to make
35:26A beautifully tailored
35:27Pair of trousers
35:28Yes, she was clever
35:29With that
35:29Yep
35:29It looked perfect
35:30And focused on the pant
35:32And the pant
35:32Was quite impressive
35:33I have to say
35:34I was like, wow
35:35I like the top
35:37Very much
35:38I always said
35:39That she should
35:39Be in here
35:40You guys weren't
35:42So sure about that
35:42I was sure
35:43I wanted her
35:44I loved the taste
35:45I just was
35:45Unsure of the fact
35:47Of saying that
35:48Someone could be
35:49That much of a wizard
35:50That they could do
35:52All of this
35:52In such a short
35:53Period of time
35:54We also liked Anthony
35:58Anthony Ryan
35:59That t-shirt was adorable
36:02That's something
36:03That we all would want to have
36:04All of us
36:04Yeah
36:05It looked cool
36:07It looked great
36:08He didn't embellish it too much
36:11I like the overall look
36:13I like that he
36:15Kind of left her
36:16A bit disheveled
36:17To go with the fact
36:19That his look
36:20Wasn't totally put together
36:22And polished
36:24He knew to do that
36:26And I like that about it
36:27Yeah
36:28Bert
36:32I have to say
36:33I like Bert
36:34And he listened
36:35Because we said
36:36You know
36:37Bert you have to
36:38Turn the volume up
36:39A little bit
36:40I think it was
36:41The most interesting
36:42Garment
36:43Yeah
36:43Very nice
36:44As far as design
36:45That we saw today
36:46Yeah
36:46Yeah
36:46Very sophisticated
36:47The styling
36:48Freaked me out
36:50Oh
36:50The far faucet hair
36:52And then the heels
36:53I love the dress so much
36:54I didn't even notice
36:55The bad styling
36:56Because the dress is great
36:57Yeah
36:57I think he's a good designer
36:59Yeah I do too
37:00So have we made our decision?
37:05All right
37:09Let's bring them back out
37:10One of you will be named the winner
37:23And one of you will be out
37:26One of you will be named the winner
37:38And one of you will be out
37:41Bert
37:45Congratulations
37:49You are the winner of this challenge
37:51Thank you so much
37:52I'm happy to say
38:00That you have immunity
38:00For the next challenge
38:01And you cannot be eliminated
38:03That's the best
38:04Thank you
38:05You can leave the runway
38:07Thank you
38:08Thank you guys
38:10Thank you
38:12My right hand
38:13I had to keep it in my pocket
38:14Because it was sort of
38:15Going like crazy
38:16I thought I'm going to have
38:16A stroke here on the runway
38:17But that didn't happen
38:19I feel amazing
38:21And I'm very relieved
38:23And?
38:25I won
38:25Brilliant
38:26Best part is I have immunity
38:29For the next challenge
38:30Congratulations
38:31Congratulations
38:32Thank you guys
38:33Congratulations
38:34We all did a great job
38:36Good job
38:37Why are you shaking then?
38:39Because I'm a little freaked out
38:41I think I might have
38:42Discriminated against Bert
38:44A little bit
38:44Just because of age
38:45You know
38:46I was blown away
38:46I thought Bert did a great job
38:48Ah
38:49Anya
38:53You're in
38:55You can leave the runway
38:55Thank you
38:57Anthony, Ryan
39:01You're in
39:02You can leave the runway
39:03Good job
39:04Josh
39:10Julie
39:12Raphael
39:13Your designs were clearly
39:16Less successful
39:18Your designs were clearly less successful
39:18Julie
39:22You're in
39:25You can leave the runway
39:26Oh, thank you
39:27Good job
39:29Josh
39:36You're in
39:43Thank you
39:47Thank you
39:47But barely
39:48You won't regret it
39:50Thank you
39:52Raphael
39:59Unfortunately, that means you're out
40:01I hope you're doing
40:04All the best to you
40:06Thank you
40:07Thank you guys so much
40:08I definitely enjoy my time here
40:13Just because I'm off the show
40:14Doesn't mean the sewing machine is turned off
40:16It's always something I'm going to strive to do
40:18Oh
40:19There you go
40:19Raphael
40:20Hi
40:20Well, clearly
40:22It's me
40:23Aww
40:24Thank you guys so much
40:25It's been fun
40:26Oh, you guys are lovely
40:29Raphael
40:30I'm going to miss you, though
40:31Hi, Tim
40:31I'm going to miss you, too
40:32Hi, everybody
40:33You have to take him
40:34Raphael, we're going to miss you
40:35You've made such a positive impression
40:37In such a short period of time
40:39Thank you so much, Tim
40:40So I have to send you to the workroom
40:41To clean up your space, okay?
40:43Okay, thanks so much, Tim
40:44You take care of me
40:46All right
40:46You, too
40:47Bye, guys
40:48Do good
40:48Bye
40:49See you around
40:50I'm just going to continue to push the bar
40:53I'm just going to continue to knock down doors
40:55Break down barriers
40:55And just really fight for myself as a designer
40:59And just continue living my life and my dream
41:02And just selling
41:03This season on Project Runway
41:08Welcome to Petland Discounts
41:11Holy crap, we're dressing dogs
41:13Oh, my
41:15We're headed to our first outdoor runway ever
41:19It's just madness
41:20Let's see your button now
41:22There's no time for worrying
41:23I just have to get it done
41:24Oliver's stress
41:25Oh, my God
41:26I'm struggling to stay in the game
41:28I will not have it, Bert
41:30I can see it's getting very stressful
41:32In the history of Project Runway
41:34I've never, ever felt this worried
41:38About people not finishing
41:39It feels like there's a black cloud over me
41:41If this is too hard for you
41:42You can go anytime
41:44That looks bad
41:45That does look bad
41:46Just keep going
41:47That's what you have to do
41:48To survive in this competition
