00:00What's up friends and welcome back to yet another VC box Android TV box review. In my last video
00:08you saw their V6 Plus model. And in today's review you have their second model for the holidays
00:14called the V6 Max. For those of you who are new, these are not your standard Android TV boxes.
00:21So don't compare the price with the hardware. These are special category boxes. And for more
00:26information on what makes them so special you will have to contact me via email at tvboxstop at gmail.com
00:33and I'll be happy to show you. So without further ado my full review begins right after this.
00:47So I'm back and after the unboxing in the box you get the new V6 Max model itself.
00:59You get one Bluetooth voice remote with backlit keys.
01:01You get one HDMI cable. A 5V 2A DC power supply. And a user manual.
01:18Its design consists of a plastic outer shell with the VC box branding at the top.
01:24For IO all the ports are at the back. It comes with one HDMI 2.1 port,
01:29one Ethernet LAN port, one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, one AV port,
01:37one SD card reader, and its DC input socket.
01:42At the front you have an LED display and LED power light.
01:46And below the box has four rubber feet with no ventilation holes.
01:51So its first startup process is the same as the V6 model.
01:55It starts with the VC box animation.
01:59Followed by a first startup wizard by pairing of the Bluetooth remote.
02:04Then you are taken to the launcher.
02:07The launcher is VC box's standard grip launcher which consists of horizontal scrolling panels for
02:14all installed apps and recommended apps. And a system shortcuts bar at the bottom.
02:19This launcher runs on android tvOS so it does not feature a navigation bar or full status bar with system
02:25controls. Under basic system information it shows that it's running on android tvOS.
02:33Here is its current build information. However you don't get access to developer options.
02:38Let's have a look at its Frome features. You get up to 4K 2160p at 60Hz.
02:52You get HDR display with an adaptive HDR feature.
02:57You get auto frame rate switching.
03:00Under formats shows that you have HDR10 and HLG.
03:05You get HDMI CEC options.
03:09For audio under formats it shows that it supports Dolby digital.
03:13When connected to a surround sound television or an AV receiver these options will be enabled.
03:20What makes this box different from standard boxes and classified as a special category box
03:26is that it can access live TV channels and video only man movies from external sources.
03:32So let's take a look at what you can access with your purchase.
03:36Keep in mind if you do not want these services it's totally optional and you can simply remove
03:41these apps from the box and use it as a standard Android TV box.
03:46The option to access these services is purely optional and you can do so at your own risk.
03:50With the heat live app you get 2,125 live TV channel across various categories.
03:59And these are all buffer free channels. Compared to other models,
04:04VC box is the only brand that I can safely say does not buffer which makes them the best boxes in this
04:11category.
04:20The heat VOD app provides 43,058 video on demand movies across various categories all in HD quality.
04:29And you get 15,017 TV series all in HD quality across various categories.
04:37And these are all buffer free movies and TV series feeding off their powerful VC box servers.
04:42The VOD Ultra is another video on demand app that provides movies and TV series all in 2K 1440p resolution
04:54from popular service providers. You get 11,546 videos on demand and 3,634 TV series.
05:05The heat backup app provides up to one week of recorded programming from most of the live TV channels,
05:25sports networks and news networks.
05:37So that's what accounts for the high price of this model.
05:41You are not paying for high-end hardware but for the service you can access.
05:46So if you have seen enough and have decided that this model suits your needs,
05:51you can grab one using the link in the description below this video with a $50 coupon.
05:56I will now proceed with the rest of its hardware and firmware features.
06:02So with this firmware you get up to 4K 2160p at 60Hz.
06:09You get HDR display with an adaptive HDR feature.
06:14Under formats it supports HDR10 and HLG.
06:17It does not support Dolby Vision or HDR10 Plus.
06:23It supports HDMI CC options.
06:27You get auto frame rate switching.
06:31And for surround sound audio you have Dolby and DTS audio.
06:36These formats here will become available once you connect it to a compatible TV
06:41or AV receiver with Dolby and DTS features.
06:44For system and hardware information, the manufacturer of this chipset is Amlogic.
06:50And it comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage with Bluetooth 5.0.
06:59Its CPU is the Amlogic S905Y4, a quad-core cortex A35 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz configured in 32-bit mode.
07:10Its display and graphics are powered by the Mali G31 GPU with OpenGL ES version 3.2.
07:18Its network adapter provides dual band 2.4 plus 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
07:24Its operating system is Android 14 and it shows here that the firmware is not rooted.
07:30Its GPU has Vulkan support API version 1.1.
07:34They have disabled the temperature sensor.
07:38And for audio and video decoders.
07:41For video you get HAVC, AV1, and VP9 decoding for the playback of 4K HDR videos.
07:47And for surround audio you get Dolby Atmos EAC3 and DTS HD.
07:54And that's its system and hardware information.
07:57Moving on to digital rights management.
08:00Its DRM information shows that it has Google Widevine level 1 with HDCP 2.3 protection.
08:07The root checker app also shows that the firmware is not rooted.
08:13With these two requirements, with your Netflix HD subscription, you can watch movies and TV series
08:20in HD 1080p quality. You don't get 4K.
08:25They have included the very difficult to get modified version of Netflix.
08:30So you can get at least up to HD 1080p quality.
08:33You don't get 4K because it does not have a Netflix ESN.
08:40For watching YouTube videos you can play up to 1440p resolution with HDR comfortably.
08:46However, when you switch to 4K 2160p it tends to freeze.
09:10It does not come with the official version of Miracast.
09:14So you will have to use the air screen app to mirror your Android devices instead.
09:35In testing its 4K HDR video playback with its built-in decoders, these are the formats.
09:41You get HDR10.
09:58It can play the EV1 format.
10:11It does not come with Dolby vision decoders so Dolby vision videos play as HLG.
10:33Here's another Dolby vision video but it plays as HDR10 with Dolby Atmos.
10:38It does not come with the HDR10 plus decoder so it plays HDR10 plus videos as HDR10 standard.
10:55And this is an official HLG video.
11:07For surround sound audio it comes with built-in Dolby and DTS decoders.
11:27And when connected to my 7.1 EV receiver these are the formats.
11:32You get the Dolby Atmos.
11:34It's cinematic audio.
11:38With powerful moving audio that transcends from channels.
11:44To moving around you with 10 point accuracy.
11:47Dolby Digital Plus.
12:01You don't get DTS HD Master Audio.
12:04Instead you get DTS Virtual X.
12:18From Dolby Vision videos you get Dolby Surround.
12:20You don't get Dolby True HD.
12:33It plays as PCM.
12:37Next we have the center channel.
12:40And it does not come with the DTS X decoder.
12:43So it plays as DTS Virtual X.
13:09When it comes to gaming and sideloading.
13:17I was able to sideload a game from the Aptoid TV APK app store.
13:21And it worked.
13:22Not all of the games are available but at least you can sideload some of them.
13:26Now a look at some benchmarks and where it ranks on my chart.
13:43First the results of its RAM and internal storage.
13:48It has a RAM transfer speed of 4021 MB per second.
13:54Its internal storage has a read speed of 122 MB per second.
13:58And a write speed of 67 MB per second.
14:02In testing its Wi-Fi bands and its Ethernet LAN port reveals
14:07that you have maximum speed on the 5 GHz band.
14:10The 2.4 GHz band averages around 84 MB per second.
14:15And its LAN port is not a gigabit LAN port averaging around 94 MB per second.
14:22In benchmarking its Amlogic CPU, the Geekbench 5 CPU benchmark produced a score of 109 single core
14:30and 371 multi core.
14:33Its graphics benchmark resulted in a score of 198 with an average FPS of 1.2 in the 3DMark wild live tests.
14:43And in the Antutu benchmark it received a score of 96,520 in the Antutu benchmark version 9.6.0.
14:55So those are the benchmarks. I will now update my chart and let's see where it ranks.
14:59So the scores are in and the new VC box V6 max ranks at position 58 at the time of recording this video.
15:09I gave it a 3 out of 5 star rating, but that's only based on its hardware performance.
15:15These boxes are still rated as the best for live TV and video on demand with no bothering.
15:21So if you are interested I placed a link for easy access as well as a $50 coupon for you to take advantage.
15:29So to view this chart to compare it to other boxes in this list,
15:32you can use the link I provided in the description below this video.
15:35In summary, I really like that VC box stayed away from the cheap all-winner chipset and went with
15:42the Amlogic chipset. I like that you can watch your Netflix movies in HD quality.
15:49Its live TV and video on demand feature is the best in the industry with no buffering in HD quality.
15:56And it provides 4K HDR video playback and Dolby and DTS surround sound audio for self-hosted videos only.
16:05So a few caveats are that it does not have an official Netflix ESN license,
16:11it does not have a gigabit LAN port, and though Amlogic it's not a gaming hardware.
16:17So viewers there you have it and that wraps up my review of this latest VC box V6 max.
