00:00 Today, as you know, a 36 year old has been taken into custody in relation to the disappearance

00:08 of Cheyenne Lee Tatnall, our 14 year old missing person.

00:13 On the 30th of April 2023, Cheyenne Lee Tatnall was last seen.

00:18 And I said to you yesterday that we will not stop until we find answers and we bring answers

00:23 to her family and to the Tasmanian community.

00:27 And today is a really significant step forward in that journey towards finding answers.

00:35 My heartfelt condolences go out to Cheyenne Lee's family today and whilst we have confirmed

00:41 and I can confirm that they are human remains that were found yesterday, there is forensic

00:46 testing that will be required to understand that they are in fact Cheyenne Lee.

00:52 Having said that, we do believe that it is in fact her.

00:58 I would really like to thank the Tasmanian community.

01:02 This has been a really long and complex journey, not only for police, but for everyone, for

01:07 our community, for our partners, for everyone that has come together in this journey towards

01:14 finding answers for Cheyenne Lee's family.

01:17 As I said, my heartfelt condolences go out to her and although we have not yet confirmed

01:25 that it is Cheyenne Lee, we do believe that it is her.

01:28 I can only say that the level of commitment and dedication, the passion that I have seen

01:35 in finding answers to this case has just been incredible.

01:39 It's not just been our detectives and our investigators who are seasoned and experienced

01:43 here in the north of the state.

01:45 We have had people from right around the state.

01:48 We've had analysts and specialists.

01:50 We've had not only police officers, but we've had state emergency services.

01:55 We've had amazing support from New South Wales Police, Queensland Police and of course our

02:02 partners in the Australian Federal Police as well.

02:05 Our local volunteers have been incredible and as you saw yesterday, to have 180 people

02:10 come out and support the Tasmanian community in finding answers is just incredible.

02:15 So again, I thank them.

02:18 There is no doubt that today I have seen emotion from investigators as we have progressed and

02:24 it is one more step towards an answer in this case.
