00:34 You guys have a movie and you guys have auditioned.
00:37 How was that audition phase?
00:39 So, okay I'll go first.
00:45 1, 2.
00:47 So, I think the audition phase for both of us was different.
00:52 I was called to meet Atleasa first.
00:55 And I had a very brief meeting with him.
00:58 And after 3 days of that I went for an audition at Mukesh sir's office.
01:03 And I gave an audition and this was the first time that the very next day I got a call from Mukesh sir saying that you got it.
01:10 I was like, sir, it's been a day now.
01:13 No, that's not true.
01:15 But he was like, no it's true and they loved your audition and you got it.
01:19 And yeah, that's how fast it happened. I gave my audition and the next day I got it.
01:24 But you knew that Shahrukh Khan will be the lead character.
01:28 So, I knew that Shahrukh sir is a part of it.
01:30 Of the film. I didn't know the story of the film. I didn't know what role he is doing.
01:35 I just knew he is in the film because even during that time, there was a lot of news.
01:41 There was a lot of news that Atleasa and Shahrukh sir are working together.
01:46 So, after meeting Atleasa in my head, I was like, oh Shahrukh sir is a part of this.
01:50 But when I got it, the first thing that I told my mom was that I am working with Shahrukh Khan.
01:55 But when you already knew that Shahrukh is in it and you are going for the audition,
01:59 it creates a different pressure.
02:01 Before, I was, if I normally give my 100%, for that day I was like, I have to give 1000%.
02:08 It cannot be 100%.
02:10 I have to give my 1000% because I cannot lose this opportunity.
02:14 And it's such a big opportunity. Not every day, every actor gets an opportunity like that.
02:19 So, I think even Mukesh sir giving that opportunity to us is such a big thing.
02:24 And believing that we will be able to do justice to our characters.
02:29 So, he also ended up showing that faith in us.

02:36 There was a lot of pressure and I wanted to give my best and I am glad that I did.
02:47 So, my audition process was a little different from his.
02:49 Because I auditioned first before meeting Atlee sir.
02:53 So, I went to Mukesh sir's office to give my audition.
02:55 And Atlee sir had actually written a scene for the other girls, not the girls with the backstories.
03:01 So, I did that audition and a few days later, a week later I got a call that Atlee sir wants to meet you.
03:08 So, I went to Rachel's office and met Atlee sir and Priya, his wife.
03:13 And they just asked some questions like, are you willing to change your hair, are you a musician?
03:18 One more thing, do you fight? Do you have any fight experience?
03:23 And I gave my answers to everyone and then they were like, we will be in touch.
03:27 And then I got a call.
03:28 Again, it happened really quickly.
03:30 Because normally I thought that there will be at least 3-4 audition levels.
03:33 But this one audition in one meeting.
03:35 And you also knew that SRK will be the first.
03:37 Yes, I knew.
03:38 But I didn't.
03:40 But the other actors, only SRK, only SRK sir.
03:43 I only knew about SRK sir and 6 girls from the ensemble cast.
03:46 So, that's all I knew.
03:47 What is important for you, as a character, as a musician or like acting?
03:52 As a character or as Alia?
03:55 So, as a character, fighting and music are both very important.
04:00 I don't think Jahnvi is an actor.
04:02 But she is a musician and a composer.
04:04 As Alia, I love both equally.
04:06 It would be like choosing between children, you know.
04:08 I really can't.
04:10 I get this question every time.
04:12 I hate it.
04:12 I can't answer.
04:13 Because I am as much a musician as I am an actor.
04:16 And I think they are both so related.
04:18 It's not like one is engineering and one is acting.
04:23 It's like music and acting are the same.
04:24 It's like one and the same.
04:26 Both are artists.
04:27 And I would pick both.
04:30 I can't.
04:31 Okay.
04:31 When you prepared for your character, how was that process?
04:34 So, preparation, it wasn't a very long preparation.
04:38 Because I think we were selected like a month before we started shooting.
04:41 It was not a very long period of time.
04:44 And I think we ended up doing a screen...
04:49 We did a script reading before our first schedule.
04:52 And we had a lot of action sequences.
04:54 So, we had five to six days of training for those action sequences before the schedule.
05:00 So, that was majorly it, I think.
05:02 And the other way of preparing for it, in a way, was also us all bonding together.
05:07 And becoming best friends, all six of us first.
05:10 And then obviously meeting Shah Rukh sir and getting comfortable with him as well.
05:13 So, yeah.
05:14 So, it was more like, as an overall process.
05:18 Action preparation was a big thing because all of us had to fight.
05:21 And, you know, like, we had to know the basics of, you know, guns and stuff.
05:25 Because it's quite dangerous in an action film.
05:27 There's no room for error.
05:28 There's no room for...
05:28 "Okay, if someone gets shot by mistake, you can't, you know.
05:32 That's not casual."
05:34 So, we had really good stunts teams.
05:36 And they taught us not just about safety but everything from, like, basics of hand-to-hand
05:42 to jumps.
05:42 And so, we did a lot of stunt training for the film.
05:45 And then, personally, I'm sure, like, Lehru ki character ke liye, she had a lot of, like,
05:49 connect to the character.
05:51 I also connected to my character even though I didn't have a backstory.
05:53 I wrote my own backstory to kind of...
05:55 to know what I was fighting for on screen.
05:58 Because I didn't just want to be like, "Yeah, I'm here and I'm fighting for some reason.
06:01 Some bad thing happened to me."
06:02 I wanted to know why I was in this jail.
06:04 Why I'm with these girls.
06:06 And so, I did my own background work.
06:09 Yeah, and also, I mentioned...
06:10 Ah, yeah.
06:11 Nice.
06:12 Brahmastra actually helped me a little.
06:14 Because, you know, I learnt MMA and I did a lot of physical training for Raveena's character
06:19 in Brahmastra.
06:20 So, that became sort of a base for me for Jawaan.
06:23 For action, especially.
06:24 Aapke saath hai kya sahi hai na?
06:27 Ek mein Brahmastra mein Amitabh sir hai.
06:29 Pir ismein SRK.
06:30 So, what's working with Amitabh sir, especially?

06:35 Main na, I always put it like, you know, it's the best way to enter this industry is
06:42 by touching Amitabh sir's feet and getting into it.
06:44 And I got to do that.

06:47 So, literally, when the first time I met him, I directly...
06:51 That was the first time I directly went to him and mein seeda unke pehar chhute hai.
06:54 And, you know, even though he was like, "Ladkiya pehari chhute hai."
06:57 I was like, "No, sir.

06:59 Like, what more do I want as an actor by, you know, starting like this?"
07:04 And it's fun to watch, like, to work with him.
07:06 And unke saath shurvaad kahi, not to sound like I'm bragging anything.

08:24 Gaana toh ho gaya hai.
08:25 Means what's gonna happen?
08:27 So the costume team was hustling last minute.
08:28 We all got our little white outfits.
08:30 Guns gayi gaye.
08:31 And we just shot that last scene.
08:32 And then it was back up for all six girls.
08:34 And I think, not twelve.
08:36 But all six girls at the same time.
08:37 But that was the last moment I think.
08:39 Like, shoot-wise.
08:41 So obviously it was very sad.
08:42 In a way that we were like...
08:44 Like somewhere or the other we all realised that,
08:46 for the first time, that oh shit, we won't be...
08:48 Toh saanon ka supper is ending in one moment.
08:49 That we won't be meeting again.
08:51 Or having this thing again.
08:53 But then we met Sharksville quite a bit after that.
08:57 At the screening we met him at Mannat.
08:59 We met him at Yashra.

10:48 And it's not too much of that.
10:50 So we were more like these observers
10:52 and audience on set when he was working.
10:54 Especially if I speak on my behalf.
10:56 I was just watching him.
10:58 And he is a phenomenal actor.
11:00 I will always say that.
11:02 I am a huge fan when I watched his film called Super Deluxe.
11:06 Since then I have been always holding on to
11:08 one day I want to work with him.
11:10 And the day we got to know
11:12 we were already shooting for Jawaan.
11:14 And one day Adil sir came and he told us
11:16 that Vijay sir is doing Kali's character.
11:18 And we were like, what?
11:20 I was like, oh my god, this is happening to me soon.
11:22 And then you know when you meet him
11:24 he is the most sweetest
11:26 and the most quiet
11:28 and the most shy person.
11:30 Very, very shy person.
11:32 But the moment you see him as Kali
11:34 he transforms. It's insane.
11:36 He is like a...
11:38 Just one of those rare talents that
11:40 I don't know.
11:42 It's mesmerizing to watch him.
11:44 There was this one scene that him and Shahrukh sir
11:46 did together in the jail.
11:48 I don't want to spoil it but
11:50 I have given so many spoilers.
11:52 But I won't say anymore.
11:54 But that jail scene, you know

12:00 And so we spoiled it.
12:02 It was just a long scene.
12:04 A really long scene of like 4-5 minutes
12:06 that we had. And it was really intense.
12:08 Shahrukh sir answering back and then he was...
12:10 It was a really intense scene.
12:12 And I remember there were like
12:14 all the girls in the jail and all of us
12:16 who were also there and the crew cast.
12:18 Everyone started clapping after the scene.
12:20 Usually it doesn't happen on set because you know
12:22 you finish a scene, you move on to the next. It's very professional.
12:24 But there was such an electricity in the air
12:26 when they had that scene together. And I think
12:28 Shahrukh sir is such a big personality
12:30 and such a big
12:32 presence on screen that you needed
12:34 someone who could match it and
12:36 who could be a good foil for him. So to see
12:38 both of them act was like chills
12:40 for all of us I think.
12:42 It was really inspiring. I think as an actor
12:44 just watching him and learning from him
12:46 was something that was definitely
12:48 we took away.
12:50 And working with Atlee sir, that is
12:52 like a different thing.
12:54 After one shot, what will you say?
12:56 What is going to happen?
12:58 I think working with Atlee sir
13:00 was a new experience.
13:02 It was a very new experience in a way
13:04 that he has a very different sort of way of
13:06 working. And the most amazing
13:08 thing about Atlee sir is that he is the most
13:10 confident person about what he has written
13:12 and what he is directing. And that confidence
13:14 is something that travels. And it travels
13:16 even in the actors. That suddenly you are like
13:18 okay we know what we are doing.
13:20 And in the end of the day
13:22 whenever we are shooting with him
13:24 you will, at least we will be
13:26 all over the place. Because in Jawaan, it's
13:28 about a lot of things. It's not just one simple
13:30 story. It's a lot of things
13:32 happening. This is also happening, that is also happening
13:34 this is also happening. So we knew all the
13:36 bits and parts of the film. But how it's going to
13:38 come together was something that only he knew.
13:40 He is a visionary. So he saw it in his head
13:42 long before all of us saw it on screens.
13:44 And that's why even Shahrukh
13:46 sir once told us I think that
13:48 he takes very specific shots of
13:50 a hand tapping on a
13:52 table. Or a drop of
13:54 blood falling onto the ground in slow motion.
13:56 And so Shahrukh sir is like, sometimes
13:58 I don't understand why but I trust his vision
14:00 and I know that there is a reason.
14:02 Then when you watch it all together and you see the fast cuts
14:04 and you see how much energy it adds
14:06 only then can I think you fully understand
14:08 his genius and how he saw it
14:10 before when all of us were
14:12 just focusing on our little part of the movie
14:14 he was seeing the whole big picture.
14:16 And as a director
14:18 he was definitely like this
14:20 and also as a person I feel like
14:22 that I was just very very
14:24 touched by his
14:26 very little efforts. But smallest
14:28 of the things he would take care of. And I
14:30 have seen him really like taking care of
14:32 all the actors on set. Especially you know
14:34 like there are like
14:36 a lot of background actors. Like when there are like
14:38 600-700 people on set
14:40 he would always make sure that they are not standing
14:42 for no reason. They are not going through
14:44 anything. He would just be very
14:46 caring. So that is a very very
14:48 sweet side that he has.
14:50 And at the same time very stylistic director
14:52 as he is. So it was a fun
14:54 shoot. I would love to work with him.
