Founded in 2002 as one of the first-ever subscription film services with its DVD-of-the-Month Film Club, Film Movement is now a North American distributor of award-winning independent and foreign films based in New York City. We have released more than 250 feature films and dozens of shorts culled from prestigious film festivals worldwide.
Film Movement’s theatrical releases include American independent films, documentaries, and foreign art house titles. Our catalog includes titles by directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Maren Ade, Jessica Hausner, Andrei Konchalovsky, Andrzej Wajda, Diane Kurys, Ciro Guerra and Melanie Laurent.
In 2015, Film Movement launched the reissue label Film Movement Classics, featuring new restorations released theatrically as well as on Blu-ray and DVD, including films by such noted directors as Eric Rohmer, Peter Greenaway, Bille August, Marleen Gorris, Takeshi Kitano, Arturo Ripstein, Sergio Corbucci and Ettore Scola.
Our Omnibus Entertainment label was launched in 2014 to provide a home for a wider variety of films as well as TV and other types of programming.
With the addition of the Bond 360 catalog of superb documentaries in 2017, Film Movement has further expanded its reach into the educational and library markets.
Our Film Club continues to thrive, and in late 2018 we launched Film Movement Plus, a new and improved subscription streaming service, available at FilmMovementPlus.com as well as on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku and mobile devices.
