Marla Glen (born January 3, 1960 in Chicago) is an American jazz and (rhythm and) blues singer. Life Marla grew up on the South Side of Chicago, the daughter of Dell Glen (American-Jamaican) and Cortez Glen (Mexican-American). Glen's father was a blues guitarist, her grandmother a gospel singer, and her mother was friends with the legendary blues guitarist BB King. Her mother Dell graduated from the University of Chicago and went on to become a successful banker who worked for Merrill Lynch. Glen's father--an American patriot who joined the military at a young age--became an engineer based in Frankfurt, Germany. Like many other children in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood (also known as the Black Metropolis) who received gifts and inspiration from folks like Muddy Waters and BB King, Marla was given a toy harmonica as a child, and her musical talent became immediately apparent. Glen was only 11 years old when she wrote her first song "Repertoire", a title that has won 3 gold records and one platinum, and appears on Glen's 1996 release, "Love and Respect". Since 1998 she lives in Heilbronn in Germany. On 2 July 2004 she entered a civil union with Sabrina Conley at the local Rathaus. ... more

Butterfly Caught is a song on English trip-hop collective Massive Attack's fourth full-length album, 100th Window.
It was released as the second single from this album on June 16, 2003. The song was written by Neil Davidge and Robert Del Naja, the latter of whom performs vocals on the song.
A video for the song was made, featuring Del Naja in a series of sequences where his body is transformed into that of a wingless, dead moth while a live moth flutters its wings in time to the lighting in the room, which themselves flash in time to the beat of the song.
The video was directed by South African Daniel Levi.... more
DJ Krush (real name Hideaki Ishii) was born in 1962 in Tokyo. After watching the film "Wild Style" in the early 80s, he was inspired, bought some turntables, and started to learn the art of turntablism.
In 1987, he formed the Krush Posse, which made numerous appearances as a group in late 1992 and gained him recognition by becoming the first DJ in Japan to perform with live musicians.
Esthero (born Jen-Bea Englishman, December 23, 1978 in Stratford, Ontario[1]) is a Canadian singer-songwriter who hails originally from Walkerton, Ontario but has recently moved to Los Angeles. The name "Esthero," pronounced es-THERE-oh, refers both to the singer and to the two-person team of herself and her producer, Doc.
She claims to have gotten the name from an old film character named Esther, whose last line in a movie (The Bell Jar, based on the Sylvia Plath novel of the same name) is, "If I am to be the hero, then I cannot fly from darkness."... more

Their music can be characterized as downtempo electronica with influences of dub, acid jazz, Indian classical and Brazilian styles (such as bossa nova) fused together with a lounge aesthetic.
