It's no secret that the fashion industry and the media have a profound impact on the way women and men see themselves. How do the models in the industry feel about the "ideal" they have to portray and how does the industry affect their own self image?
In this live episode, we will be talking with eight models about the impact media has on our society and get a candid behind-the-scenes look into the fashion industry. Additionally we will be joined by a licensed therapist, health expert / personal trainer and a style expert to discuss how the media impacts our body image.
Natural Models LA was founded by Katie Halchishick and Bradford Willcox. Katie became a plus-sized model at age 17. After meeting Bradford, a personal trainer, she lost 50 pounds. She found herself having difficulty finding work as she didn't fit into the plus-sized or straight-sized categories anymore. She and Bradford decided to open Natural Models LA and to create the campaign Healthy is the New Skinny to change the way the industry views body image. Natural values models and their natural build and body size and encourage models to find a healthy balance in life and in their bodies.
