It looks like Johnny Depp will be singing for his supper once again, as the actor is in talks to star in a new movie musical. Thanks right guys, Variety is reporting that Depp is in negotiations for the movie adaptation of one of Stephen Sondheim's most epic musicals called Into The Woods. This Tony award winning musical is one of my all time favorites, and it's kind of a darker story that intertwines some of the most classic fairytales, but centrally follows the story of a baker and his wife on their journey into the woods as they attempt to lift an infertility curse that was cast on them by an evil witch. In their travels they have some interesting run in's with some fairytale legends and we will see performances by characters like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and even Cinderella. Now, this isn't the first time Johnny Depp has stepped into a musical or even into a Sondeim character, the actor starred in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" back in 2007. And if this news isn't enough to get you excited, then ...I dunno...you're a really tough crowd, but Disney has some more star power up their sleeve for you and that is to have three time Academy Award winner, Mrs. Meryl Streep to also join the cast. The actress is also in final negotiations for the film and even told Playbill in an interview that she was already quote "in" to play the leading role, and main villain, the Witch. Disney has been planning this project since January of 2012 when they announced that they had tapped Rob Marshall to direct it. Which seems like a solid choice since Marshall also directed the Oscar winning movie musical, Chicago back in 2002, as well as the musical Nine, and don't forget that he also directed the fourth Pirates of the Carribean movie. And maybe that fourth installment wasn't the biggest fan favorite of that franchise, but you have to admit that this man knows a lot about musical adaptations. So, so far so good in my book...But what are your thoughts on the progress of Into The Woods? Do you like the casting potentials so far? Are there any other actors who you think have the vocal chops to play any of the other characters in the movie? Make sure you leave us your picks down in the comments section and over on twitter at ClevverMovies as well. Thanks for watching us here. Im Erin White, and I will see ya next time.
