Blue sky thinking has become reality for Swiss company Solar Impulse.
Hoping to write the next page of aviation history, the firm had this solar powered plane in the air for 16 hours.
This test flight over San Francisco paves the way for a cross America mission planned in early May.
The route is split into five stages starting from the Bay Area and ending in New York.
