A community rallies to replace the boat lost in bomber standoff.
David Henneberry became a national hero when he tipped police after finding the suspected Boston Marathon bomber hiding in his boat parked in his back yard.
The police were quick to arrive and a standoff ensued, resulting in the apprehension of the teen – and a bullet-riddled boat.
Since the news broke, a community of grateful and proud citizens has made it their mission to ensure Mr. Henneberry gets a replacement.
Individuals have taken it upon themselves to send not just thanks and well wishes, but money the man can put towards the purchase of new one.
Said a Florida attorney, “He just had his boat shot up and had a terrorist live in it for a day. If the dude wants an upgraded boat, let's get the guy a boat without terrorist blood in it."
The fund may also get a boost if the Boston Police unions give him a portion of the 50 thousand dollar reward for leading authorities to the alleged bombers’ capture.
