This summer's movie line-up is jammed packed with plenty of action, superheros, and horror flicks, but who has the better spread, Warner Bros or Universal? Well Warner's head of distribution, Dan Fellman, seems confident that their studio is going to bring it this summer, boasting that that Warner Bros is the only studio to hit a billion dollars at the box office for the last twelve years in a row. So lets start right there. What is Warner bringing in 2013? Well, May 10th starts with The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This film was originally scheduled to come out in 2012, but was held until this summer for some tweaking, which is probably a good sign. For us it looks like a visual treat, and you will also get a chance to see it in 3D if you're a fan of 3D. Also, Man of Steel comes out June 14th, and do I really need to say more. Fans have been waiting to see this movie before we even knew there was a solid script for it, and when Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan have their names attached to a superhero project, its going to be big. In the sci-fi genre, Warner is also releasing Pacific Rim which will be directed by Guillermo Del Toro. And the director told Deadline that he is so excited for this movie and that quote "Several times a week I find myself smiling like a moron." If you haven't seen the trailer for this, please do because I think it's going to be a huge movie. Also slated for the studio is 300 Rise Of An Empire, The Conjuring, and the Jennifer Aniston comedy, We're The Millars. But how does Universal Studios fair in all of this?'s a sequel kinda summer for their line-up, and they are banking on first time around fans coming back to support their part 2's. Universal Chairman, Adam Folgelson is coining it "episodic storytelling." The studio is kicking off the summer with Fast and the Furious 6 coming out on May 24th. Whether you're a fan of this franchise, or not, is a huge money maker, and we even have a release date for Fast 7 which will be July 11th 2014 which proves that Fast isn't showing signs of slowing, any time soon. Family friendly, Despicable Me 2 hits theaters on July 3rd, and from the audiences reactions from a 20 min Cinemacon sneak peak, it might be a really funny part 2 that is perfect for the family. Speaking of family friendly, this next one is not...and that's Kick Ass 2. It's a hard R-rated film, and Jim Carey is joining the cast this time around, and so we're thinking this is a must see. And Fogelson seems to think that this is the start of a franchise similar to the Fast And The Furious, so expectations are high for this follow up. So there you have it, some of what you can expect from this summer's biggest movies. Give us your top 3, favorite "must sees" for this summer in the comments below, and make sure you sub to our channel so we can bring you all of the latest movie news, when it happens.
