Capriles calls for calm

Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles urged supporters to respect his decision to cancel a planned protest.

Capriles lost by a narrow margin to ruling party candidate Nicolas Maduro in Sunday's presidential elections.

Earlier, Maduro had accused Caprilles of trying to stage a coup and subsequently prohibited the planned demonstrations.

Following the close election results, and refusal by the electoral authority to recount the votes, violent demonstrations broke out in which seven people were killed.
