An iconic baseball jersey is slated to be sold.
It’s time for spring-cleaning, sports legend style.
Baseball Hall of Famer, Reggie Jackson, will be auctioning off the jersey he wore during game 6 of the 1977 World Series.
During that game Jackson hit 3 home runs and secured the series win for the New York Yankees. It was also one of the key career moments that earned him the title “Mr. October”.
The jersey is part of his personal sports memorabilia collection that includes items from fellow Yankees greats Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle.
Said Jackson, “I’ve never sold anything except my stuff, because my stuff I guess is not as important to me as some of the other things I’ve collected.”
He plans to use the funds to offer generous financial support to his family and his namesake charity, the Mr. October Foundation for Kids. The organization’s focus is education in minority communities.
If it sounds like an item you’re interested in, the sale is being held by California’s SCP Auctions online from April 10 through the 27th.
