Captain America: The Winter Solider is officially in production and we're getting our first look plus new details! Marvel announced that production on the highly anticipated second installment of Captain America has begun in Los Angeles and will also include locations in Cleveland and Washington D.C. The plot is said to pick up right where The Avengers movie finished with Steve Rogers having some trouble with his role in the modern world. He then teams up with Natasha Romanoff, otherwise known as Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansen. It was unclear how significant a role Black Widow would play in the sequel, and it now looks like she will have even more of a presence than we saw in Iron Man 2 or The Avengers. The duo will take on a villain that lurks in the shadows of present day Washington, D.C. And who is the villain? Well, he's the once BFF of Captain America, Bucky Barnes, who was thought to be dead but was brought back to life and brainwashed by the enemy to become an assassin known as "The Winter Soldier" -- hence the title. In addition to Sebastian Stan returning as the brainwashed Bucky, Hayley Atwell will also return as Peggy Carter, a role that she previously said she wasn't going to do. Toby Jones will also be returning as Hydra scientist Arnim Zola with Samuel L. Jackson and Colby Smulders returning as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Emily VanCamp, who we previously revealed would be playing Peggy's niece, Sharon, will be simply known as "Agent 13". And finally, Robert Redford, who was previously cast as a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. leader will play Agent Alexander Pierce. Captain America: The First Avenger opened in the summer of 2011 at the number one spot at the box office, and we can only expect a similar showing when The Winter Solider opens April 4th, 2014. But what do you think about some of these castings? Who are your favorites so far? And are you excited to see Black Widow and perhaps Nick Fury take on a more prominent role in this film?
