Mass rallies in North Korea denouncing US

STORY: North Korea has held massive anti-U.S. and South Korea rallies across the country in support of its army, amid high tensions on the Korean peninsula, the North's state-run television KRT reported on Thursday.

KRT showed massive rallies in Kangwon Province, Ryanggang Province and Southern Hwanghae Province, but it didn't say when those rallies were held.

The video broadcasted by the state television showed thousands of people dressed in military uniform gathering in a square, chanting anti-U.S. slogans and marching down the streets while holding a banner with messages such as "Let's destroy our mortal enemy, the United States."

Tensions have been escalated on the peninsula after Pyongyang was hit with U.S. sanctions for conducting a third nuclear test in February and the United States and South Korea staged military drills that North Korea viewed as hostile.
