STORY: Attackers hurled a grenade at a paramilitary truck, killing at least four officials and wounding six others including two civilians in Pakistan's biggest city Karachi on Wednesday, paramilitary Rangers and hospital officials said.

The attack took place near a Rangers headquarters in the Landhi neighborhood in the east of the city.

Initial reports suggested it was a bomb which had been detonated remotely, but later the officials said it was a grenade.

A Rangers spokesman confirmed the number of deaths and said the vehicle, with a dozen personnel on board, was returning from duty when it was attacked.

The vehicle was completely damaged in the blast.

Security officials cordoned off the area and the injured were transported to hospital.
