A Macy's ad error features a $1,500 necklace on sale for $47.

A few lucky Macy’s customers recently got the bargain of a lifetime.

The company mailed a countrywide advertisement featuring a $1,500 necklace on sale for only $47.

Listed as a ‘Super Buy’, it apparently caught customers’ attention, as stores were rapidly selling them at the listed price. One man, Robert Bernard arrived at his local store to buy the sterling silver and 14-karat gold, two tone piece of jewelry, as an anniversary present for his wife.

The customer in front of Bernard purchased the remaining amount of inventory left in the store. The employee offered to sell him two of the necklaces for the featured $47 price and have them shipped from a Macy’s warehouse to his home.

Several days later, Bernard received a voicemail from a call center worker claiming the selling cost was supposed to be $479 and due to the pricing error, the order had been canceled.

In 2011, an online Sears ad featured an iPad 2 for $69. The model of the item normally sells for $744.99.

After orders had been placed, the retailer caught on and blamed a third-party seller for an advertisement typo.
