5 years ago44 views

Fifty million trips and counting. A record 50 million passenger trips have been made so far in Iran during the Nowruz or Persian New Year travel period, which began on the 21st of March. The figure includes long-distance bus trips, railway journeys, trips by ship and journeys by plane. During the high season, the capital city Tehran, home to more than 13 million residents, looks almost empty. That’s because many have also decided to leave, to visit ancient cities and holy sites, or to see parents, children and relatives.
