The first day of hearings at the Supreme Court on the legality of Proposition 8 and same sex marriage in California have ended with the court looking as though it will not strike down Proposition 8; rather they appear to be leaning toward dismissing the case and leaving in place the 9th Circuit Court’s ruling that Prop 8 was unconstitutional. Tomorrow the court will hear arguments on the legality of the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996. The court is expected to deliver their decision in the case this July.
