Olympus Has Fallen, and that may not only apply to the title of the Gerard Butler action film. I recently screened the new Olympus Has Fallen movie, which will be hitting theaters March 22, and I wanted to make sure you all here at ClevverMovies got the complete scoop before you show up to dish out your hard earned money. So first things first, there are a ton of big names attached to this film. We're talkin' Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, and the list goes on...so, the expectations are already set somewhat high. If you also factor in that it is directed by Antoine Fuquay, who also directed Training Day and Shooter, then you're expectations are rise up just another notch. And folks, I hate to do this to you, but this is me knocking down your hopes and dreams of this film. Now, with that said, I don't think was horrible. But, I just don't want you all to think that its going to blow your minds. It will not. However, if you are in the mood for a Summer type action packed film, you may enjoy it. The few opening scenes are definitely hitting the action hard, with nearly everyone in a 5 mile radius of the White House taking bullets to their heads. Maybe not a date movie, but I have a feeling most of you all will enjoy that. And that level of action stays pretty consistent throughout.
Gerard Butler, however, just isn't surprising in this. He's good, he's fine, he does action well...we all know that and there aren't any memorable stand out moments on his part. He definitely kicked some butt on some of the fight scenes, so it wasn't an easy movie to shoot for him physically, but in the end it's what you will expect. Surprisingly there are some funny moments sprinkled throughout, just to break up some of the explosions. There is something of a love story, but not enough to really touch your heart. So, it's mostly formulaic. And guys my last comment is that if it is this easy to take down the United States Government, Im moving to New Zealand, and Im taking all of you all, our fans, with me. Just the idea that something like this could happen, makes you wanna build that bunker in your basement afterall. So, my final grade for Olympus Has Fallen is a B-, I almost gave it a B because I got to sit between Gerard Butler and Magic Johnson during the movie, but Im a lot tougher than that. Ok guys, what do you all think? Are any of you planning on giving Olympus Has Fallen a shot this weekend? If you do, make sure you comment on this video, and tell us what you think. You are, afterall, our experts out there.
Until the next movie, Im Erin White. See you in the next video!
