GrimGrimoire review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of GrimGrimoire for PlayStation 2 developed by Vanillaware and published by Nippon Ichi. The word "Vanillaware" alone paints a picture: specifically, that of a 2D game with ART. Not just models and polygons, not just lush backgrounds, not just unique sprite-based technologies. Actual ART, owing to the studio being comprised completely of artists. They made a name for themselves with Odin Sphere, and reinforced that (somewhat) with GrimGrimoire, a step away from the action-RPG elements that defined their previous effort. Instead, GrimGrimoire is a strange side-on Real-Time Strategy game, pitting a lone magical girl against the spirits that haunt a wizards' academy.
