Number 5 - The biggest news story on March 19th covered the shocking assassination of King of Greece. The assassin was 'said to be a socialist - declares after arrest he is against governments.'
Number 4 - We have all heard the phrase 'starving artist'. A 1913 headline on the front page read 'Artist Starves to Death'. His body was found 2 days after he died in his apartment. The report further noted - 'In the room were several unfinished canvases, but no completed paintings'.
Number 3 - Whiskey ads were all over the newspapers at that time. Interestingly, they not only promised hospitality and good cheer but also health.
Number 2 - These days if a child gets lost, you'd hear of search efforts through choopers and other advanced means. A hundred years back, cavalary was sent to look for a lost boy. As told by the New York Times, 'A troop of United States Cavalry
to-night joined a platoon of mounted police and more than 300 boy scouts in the search'.
