A sea lion lands on a street in Brazilian downtown.
Sea lions - where do we see them? By the water, ofcourse.
Well, recently, a sea lion, measuring slightly under 10-feet long waddled away from its salt water home and took a trip through the shopping district of a southern Brazilian beach town.
During the busy, early evening hours, witnesses watched as the creature made its way through the downtown section. According to police, the law abiding sea lion even used the crosswalk.
It is estimated that it weighed over 600 pounds. Traffic was halted and pedestrians were kept back from the massive sea lion.
Firefighters and police poured water on the creature to keep it wet before it returned to the ocean by itself.
Last year, severe flooding in Minnesota led to a Duluth zoo losing several animals. The establishment’s seal was able to escape.
A nearby resident soon discovered the creature resting on the side of the road. He alerted rescue crews, who took the seal back to the zoo.
The local male stated “He kind of looked like Snuffleupagus or a puppy dog. His eyelids were down most of the time. He looked pretty relaxed.”
