A new Phallus-shaped species is found.A new species of worm fossil has been discovered in Canada. The prehistoric, phallus shaped worm lived underwater during the Cambrian period from 545 to 495 million years ago. It is a missing link in evolution to the modern acorn worm. The newly discovered worm is the oldest relative of the acorn worm in the fossil record. Researchers from the University of Montreal in Canada working along with researchers from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom came across the fossils in the Burgess Shale fossil bed, which is part of British Columbia’s Yoho National Park. Another scientific expedition ventured into the crater of an extinct volcano. Amidst the rainforest of Papua New Guinea, the team discovered 80 new species of plants and animals including carnivorous plants, and a giant rat. Researchers trapped a live rat and found that it was a species new to the scientific community. The rat measured 82 centimeters long and weighed about one and a half kilograms.
