In Kenya, some polling centres have officially begun to shut their gates to begin the vote counting process.

This year's general election will see Kenyans casting ballots for a number of new political posts as a result of constitutional reforms issued in 2010.

Al Jazeera's Nazanine Moshiri reports from Kibera, where election officials, monitors from the different parties and security await the official vote count.

Though voting has been extended to accomodate the hundreds who queued in hours-long lines, in some areas, voters will only be allowed to cast their ballot if they are within the confines of the given premises at the time.
