Former Hatian dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier appeared in court Thursday on charges of corruption and crimes against humanity.
Duvalier received a police escort after failing to show up for two earlier hearings last week.
At 19, Duvalier took over power from his father in 1971 and continued the iron fisted rule- using a violent secret police force to suppress opposition.
He fled Haiti in 1986 and lived in exile in France until returning unexpectedly to Haiti in 2001.
More than 100,000 Haitians fled the country under his rule seeking asylum in the U.S.
