A British couple have been killed in a Thai traffic accident while on a trip round-the-world cycling trip.

Mary Thompson and Peter Root were on a highway east of Bangkok when they were reportedly hit by a pick-up truck.

Their belongings were recovered by police, who say a 25-year-old has admitted hitting the cyclists.

He's been charged with causing death and dangerous driving.

Thompson and Root started their trip in 2011.

They had already travelled through more than 23 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
