To determine the correct size of stove pipe, measure the diameter of the collar on the stove. If the stove has a 6" collar, then you should use a 6" stove pipe and a 6" chimney pipe through the roof. If it is 8" collar, you would run 8" pipe all the way up.
Be aware installing an increaser or decreaser will most likely cause drafting issues. It may be hard to start a fire, and cause smoke to come back in the room. The stove may not perform as efficiently as it is supposed to when you have the right size pipe all the way up.
