The visual pairing here comes from a collaboration between directors Grigori Aleksandrov (“Jolly Fellows”) and Sergei Eisenstein (“The Battleship Potemkin”). The Soviet Russian film-makers, who paired up for “October: Ten Days That Shook the World” and several other films and plays, created the poetic, experimental, “Romance Sentimentale” in France in 1930. It stars Mara Griy as “The Singer”. Sculptures by Auguste Rodin.
