Columbia Pictures has started filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York and now we have some new details to share about the cast and plot of the upcoming sequel. Once again we'll be seeing Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen, but this time around our hero will have to battle the new villain, Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. According to a press release from Columbia Pictures, some new developments we can expect in the upcoming film include the return of Harry Osborn, who is described as an "old friend," and we're being promised more information about Peter Parker's past. Which, if you recall, was also promised in the first installment of The Amazing Spider-Man... unfortunately, that information wasn't exactly delivered. We previously reported that Paul Giamatti was being eyed to play the villainous Rhino in the film and we can now confirm he has joined the cast, though his character is not mentioned. Another actor joining the cast with no mention of which character he'll be playing is Thor's Colm Feore. With the introduction of Harry Osborn, perhaps we'll be seeing him play Norman Osborn AKA Green Goblin? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit theaters in 3D on May 2nd next year and production is set to take place entirely in New York City and New York State, a first for the franchise. Director Marc Webb has been giving daily updates on production via Twitter, tweeting out a photo of the camera operator on the first day, followed by a prop from Oscorp on day two. Are you excited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and do you think we can expect to see Electro, Rhino AND Green Goblin in the sequel? Share your thoughts below and subscribe for all your movie news!
