After an exhaustive search that included some of Hollywood's hottest up-and-coming stars, Marvel has found the actor to lead the Guardians of the Galaxy. We previously reported that Marvel was looking at stars like Warrior's Joel Edgerton, Les Mis' Eddie Redmayne, Cloud Atlas' Jim Sturgess' and even superhero movie vets like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and James Marsden. Well, it appears none of the names on the list were right to play Guardians of the Galaxy leader Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. So which actor does have the right stuff to play former astronaut turned galactic guardian? According to Deadline, Chris Pratt has landed the sought after role in what the studio hopes will be their next big superhero franchise. Pratt is best known for playing Andy Dwyer on the NBC series Parks and Recreation and had small roles in 2011's Moneyball and Oscar nominated Zero Dark Thirty in which he bulked up to play one of the Navy SEALS that took down Osama Bin Laden. For those of you unfamiliar, Star-Lord is the offspring of a human mother and alien father who becomes a sort of intergalactic cop in order to take revenge on the aliens who killed his mother. He helps create the Guardians of the Galaxy, a group of former prisoners turned warriors who try to stop threats to the galaxy before they begin. They are instrumental in taking down The Avengers end credits baddie Thanos and will most likely be part of The Avengers 2 in addition to their own film, which is set to hit theaters on August 1st, 2014. Star-Lord is the first role to be cast, but other roles include a talking Raccoon named Rocket Raccoon, with stars like Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey rumored to be in the running to voice the character. So what do you think about Chris Pratt as Star-Lord? Is he a good choice or would you rather have seen one of the other actors land the role? Give us your thoughts below or tweet us @ClevverMovies.
