More women targeted in Jammu & Kashmir.

    by TimesNow

6 years ago, a woman had to face the ugly reality of the state's biased approach towards women when Gulnaz Begum was a target of an acid attack. The reason was that she was running a beauty parlor which was against the diktats of the radicals in the Valley. This isn't the first time women activists have been targeted in the Valley. A veteran singer and daughter of renowned poet Alam Ara Janbaaz had to flee from Kisthwar in 2004 because of threats from radicals. She has now voiced her support for the all-girl band.
