One of the US cities hit hardest by the global downturn was its once mighty car-making capital, Detroit. As the auto giants driving its economy teetered on the brink of collapse, so did much of the city. But as John Hendren explains, Detroit is undergoing a transformation, after learning some lessons from the past.
